The purpose of this post is to reflect and discuss the relaxation technique that was used this week in unit 2. First off, I think that the voice used for the meditation was very relaxing so that helped. I think that for some people it is hard to "get into" the art of meditation or relaxation, especially if you are not used to it. I found the meditation/relaxation a good experience although it is different than what I am used to doing as far as relaxation techniques go. This technique was based on using suggestion toward the body and moving blood from our cores to our arms and hands along with deep breathing. I had an easy time relaxing and felt that my arms and hands did get very heavy, warm, and relaxed by decreasing the muscle tension in my body. I still think I favor trying to clear my mind and focusing on breathing exercises though.

Hi Chelsey
ReplyDeleteI found your blog very interesting to read. If I had more time in the day to meditate or relax, then I think I would feel a lot less stressed. I also found the voice on the meditation technique very soothing, which helped make the time go by so quickly. I need to set aside more time in the day for myself just like that exercise again. My twin sister did get some relaxation CDs that would probably be better to listen to than what is on the radio. I wil start with those first. Enjoy unit 3!

Chelsey,
ReplyDeleteI too found this meditation easy to follow. My favorite type of meditation is visualization. I like to either listen to guided imagery or to create it myself, letting my mind take me where I need to go, putting in it's own details of my surrounding area.

Chelsey,
ReplyDeleteI remember doing a meditation a while back that was dedicated to moving energy throughout the body as part of balancing the chakras and whenever a body part was mentioned I would feel that part start to tingle. It was very interesting what that awareness and suggestion can do. Breathing exercises are also really helpful because they're something you can do anywhere to help you bring yourself to a state of mindfulness and awareness.

Hello Chelsea,
ReplyDeleteThe power of meditation is truly amazing! I have to agree with you though, that if you are not familiar with it, it can be hard to get into. I had a friend that first introduced my to meditation and I thought he was completely crazy at first. I do have to say now, that it is a life saver! I also loved the voice of the narrator for this method. The power of the mind is amazing. My major is Psychology and I am planning on working as a mental health therapist. I have always had a great intrigue when it comes to the power of the mind and the illness that can affect it. Your blog looks great!
